A while ago, I was asked to do a guestpost for Jamie from Chosen chaos.
I had to write a letter to my 18 year old self. A wonderful prompt.
For a year different bloggers have posted a letter on her blog, every Friday.
And now all those letters are coming together in a linkup!
Read my letter below and go and have a look at the other letters,.

I see you sometimes..
In the insecure posture of a young girl passing by.
Shoulders slightly arched, eyes down, not quite certain of your personality.
Unaware of your beauty.
Sometimes you pass me by, with a group of friends,
You’re exuberant, funny, loud, but the shoulders catch my eyes.
I hear you in an old song that finds my ear by accident.
Words that were once played over and over again.
A heart being poured out in sound.
I see you on a Tumblr blog and catch a glimpse of that personality,
just before it hides in the shadows again.
I want to encourage you to stand tall,
Hug you with my eyes, hold you with my smile.
But I can’t step into your world.
And you can’t step into mine.
You can’t see me.
You have yet to figure out, who you are and who you want to be.
There is a desire in you to be noticed, but at the same time you’re trying to hide.
You’re so very afraid to be yourself,
you don’t even know how to be yourself.
You won’t find it in other people, you won’t find it by copying others.
You won’t find it by pushing yourself,
taking every possible load upon those fragile shoulders.
You will find it when you reach within.
You have a great personality, it’s there.
All you have to be, is you.
You, unique, beautiful, perfect.
I would like to tell you this.
But what I’d like most, is for you to see me.
If you could, you wouldn’t need my words.
If you could look at me,
you would see the power, the strength inside of me.
A strength that rises above anything.
So powerful, that no matter how many times you are knocked down,
you will wipe off the dust, get back on your feet and smile through your tears.
If you could see that, my dear,
You would know how to straighten those shoulders.
I want to hold your hand, and walk by your side,
Help you, shield you, protect you.
There are so many wise words, I want to whisper in your heart.
But then our eyes meet.
Just for a moment.. a split second, maybe.
And I gasp,
Because what I see in your eyes,
is exactly what you would see in mine.
